Oreo lovers the wait is over! The new Red Velvet Oreos are in stores now for a limited time (just in time for Valentine’s Day). I first heard about these cookies 2 weeks ago and I was determined to buy them. I went to a few stores today and finally found them at Walmart. I almost overlooked them because the packaging is smaller then a normal size package of Oreos. Not to mention they were almost sold out!
I grabbed 4 packs and hauled tail to the self-checkout lane, and almost elbowed a few people that were in my way (it was that serious). Last week I had my wisdom teeth removed, so I was only able to nibble on a couple cookies. They have a cream cheese center and taste really good.
I decided to whip up a cake for my fam since I had a couple of boxes of Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake in my pantry. I prefer my Red Velvet from scratch, and I’ll do a post on it in the near future, but Duncan is cool.
I made whipped cream cheese frosting, and you can find the recipe for that below. This frosting is delicious and tastes exactly like vanilla ice cream. It’s not overly sweet in my opinion.
If you’re an Oreo fan, then you will enjoy this new flavor. Hopefully you won’t have a hard time finding them like I did.
- 12 ounces softened cream cheese
- 1½ teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 3 cups whipping cream (heavy cream)
- Whisk whipping cream until stiff.
- Set aside in the fridge.
- Beat cream cheese until cream cheese is soft.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla and mix until smooth.
- Add whipped cream to cream cheese mixture, and mix until smooth.
